My name is Gemma Middleton, I’m 35 years old and live in Bristol. Alongside my writing I also work as a post 16 lecturer and tutor. I have been writing for most of my adult life and after returning to education in my late 20’s I studied for a degree in Creative Writing and Drama and then went on to gain a Masters in Scriptwriting. I enjoy writing scripts for television and prefer writing in the genres of psychological drama, thriller and crime.
I recently applied, and proceeded to be selected, to take part in a TAPS scheme for new Scriptwriters, ‘Continuing Drama.’ During the course, which was held at ITV Yorkshire, I worked with various writers from the television industry and produced a 30 minute script. My script ‘Family Ties’ went on to be selected as one of the top few from the course and has now been filmed and showcased onto the TAPS showcase DVD. A copy of my script is also available from the TAPS script-bank.
I am currently working on a project, ‘Second Sight’ which is intended for television. The pilot episode has been written (the first 15 pages included in this book) and outlines are also available for 5 future episodes. The series explores psychic ability and questions whether such a thing is reality or madness, a gift or a curse?
I have a passion for telling a story and through the medium of television I’ve discovered a way of channelling my ideas into a visual concept. I take inspiration from life experience, people I’ve met  and being in possession of a very vivid imagination. Scriptwriting is not just my hobby. To me, it’s a way of life.
